The reminder

Level 1 is polite.
Level 5 is porcupinish.
More porcupine, less ish.

Every member of a castle is assigned a snark level by the person who runs it. It decides how the monthly nudge sounds when it lands. These five are real ones — not written for this page. The wording changes every month; the tone does not.

Monthly reminder 1 September
September is open at the Quattlebottom Family Castle

It is September 2026, and a new gallery is open at the Quattlebottom Family Castle.

Whenever you have a moment, add the photos you would like the others to see. A few is plenty — this is not a competition, and nobody is counting. (Well, probably we are.)

2 A Bit Edgy Snark 2 of 5
Monthly reminder 1 September
A new month, an empty wall at the Quattlebottom Family Castle

September has arrived, and the Quattlebottom Family Castle has a fresh gallery waiting with nothing in it yet.

It does not take much to fix that. Any photos taken during the last month or so will do — nothing has to be remarkable to be worth keeping, and it is usually the ordinary ones that age best.

Add yours whenever you like.

September at the Quattlebottom Family Castle is looking a bit bare

A new gallery opened at the Quattlebottom Family Castle for September 2026, and so far it is a very tidy, and very empty room.

You can fix that in about two minutes. Dinners, dogs, weather and children all count, and so does the one you took by accident. The others would rather see something than nothing, and history has never been fussy.

The door is below.

Nothing happened to you this month, apparently

The September gallery at the Quattlebottom Family Castle has been open for days now and contains no proof that you were alive during any of them.

The bar could not be lower. We accept blurry. We accept badly lit. We accept the one with your thumb in it. What we do not accept is a month with nothing in it, because in twenty years somebody is going to scroll back looking for this one and find a gap where you were.

Two minutes. The way in is below.

The September gallery has stopped expecting you

The September gallery at the Quattlebottom Family Castle has been standing open long enough to develop a draught. Everyone else has been in. You have not.

There are four hundred photographs on your phone. You will never look at one of them again. Three are good — genuinely good, the kind somebody would print — and they are being slowly buried under screenshots of things you meant to buy. Send the three. It is the smallest favour anyone has asked of you this month and you are somehow still not doing it.

The drawbridge is down. Walk in.

The owner sets the level, and a member who finds their own too sharp can turn it down. In practice almost nobody does, which tells you something about families.

Why any of this exists

Everybody means to send the photographs. Almost nobody does. The nudge is the part that makes a shared album into something that actually fills up, month after month, for years.

The rest of it: a private castle for your family’s photos, reached by tapping a code in an email. No app, no password, nothing to remember.
